Pix-a-Pix Cosmos

Cosmos is the culmination of a three-year journey, representing the third and the newest iteration of my puzzle game. They have all been developed in Unity with a unique system I built into it.

Key Features

This space-themed puzzle game engages players with a mystery while they explore the universe. Gameplay revolves around a satisfying core loop:

  • Explore: Navigate a beautifully strange space environment with multiple perspectives.
  • Mine: Engage in Grid-based puzzle games to collect colored energy and items.
  • Discover: Use your findings to piece together the narrative and solve the overarching mystery.

The vision is to create a uniquely immersive experience through seamless transitions between gameplay modes, voiced dialogue, and highly distinctive ship designs. Future content updates will expand the universe with new ships and an avatar companion, offering more lore and context while keeping the intuitive, puzzle-focused interaction at its heart.

Pix-a-Pix Fireworks

This game brings the concepts shared by other rhythm games like Beatstar and merges them with the cinematic mechanics like fruit ninja. The result is a fast-paced puzzle experience that involves touching the screen at the right time to explode fireworks.

Pix-a-Pix Dead Pixel

This puzzle game was inspired by the game Minesweeper and the lesser-known Nonograms. It involves finding tiles based on the hints provided as opposed to Minesweeper where you must avoid them. It is meant to be fast with each puzzle only taking 30 seconds. The puzzles are generated randomly which provides an extra challenge since no puzzle is alike.

Key Features

  • Use of high-level state machines for UI and Play loop
  • The Maps are randomly created and stored in an Object
  • The Object is read and used to create each tile on screen
  • Each Object can even be saved as a JSON file
  • The random level generation is done entirely with a mathematical formula
  • A UI (plus) mirror system is the primary mechanic used for the puzzles and is incorporated into the mathematical formula
  • A count (yellow box) keeps track of the number of tiles needed to complete the level
